Dannii Minogue's sister, Kylie Minogue, is going into damage control by rush-releasing the 3rd single from her stalling album "X", the brilliant pop-dance track "In My Arms". "In My Arms" was the second single throughout Europe, while the UK and Australia got "Wow" (a very bad move). The CD single is out in Australia on April 28 and May 5th in the UK. Track listings are:
Australian CD:
"In My Arms" - 3:32
"In My Arms" (Death Metal Disco Scene Remix)
"In My Arms" (Sebastien Leger Mix)
"Can't Get You Out Of My Head" (Greg Kurstin Remix)
UK 2-Track CD
"In My Arms" - 3:32
"Can't Get You Out Of My Head" (Greg Kurstin Remix)
UK Maxi CD
"In My Arms" - 3:32
"In My Arms" (Death Metal Disco Scene Remix)
"In My Arms" (Sebastien Leger Mix)
"In My Arms" (Video)
The music video is one of her best in recent years.
The reason for damage control is clear. In Australia, Kylie's career is reaching an all-time low, as evident by "X"s dismal chart run in the ARIA Top 50:
09/12/2007: N 1.
16/12/2007: 9.
23/12/2007: 18.
30/12/2007: 19.
06/01/2008: 21.
13/01/2008: 40.
20/01/2008: 47.
27/01/2008: 42.
03/02/2008: 47.
10/02/2008: 44.
17/02/2008: 29.
24/02/2008: 35.
02/03/2008: 39.
09/03/2008: 45. - a month ago!
16/03/2008: OUT OF TOP 50
That's only 14 weeks in the Top 50 (even Body Language had a longer run of 18 weeks). The album is still only credited as Platinum (meaning 70,000+ copies have been shipped to stores), although whether or not it has sold that many copies remains unknown. But to be out of Top 50 would mean she is selling merely a few 100 copies a week (yes, CD sales are THAT bad!). If things don't improve for "X", it will be her worst selling studio album in Australia since 1991's "Let's Get To It"! On a worldwide scale, "X" has sold just below 850,000 copies. Keen an eye out for news on the US debut of "X". Will her one week of TV whoring pay-off?
